The Seaside Police Department is now accepting applications for the Citizen Police Academy

2010 Citizen Police Academy
The Seaside Police Department is pleased to announce the spring 2010 Citizen Police Academy. The Citizen Police Academy is an informative and educational course that takes an in-depth look at various areas of law enforcement. Topics will include patrol procedures, court procedures, investigations, communications, use of force, criminal law, traffic enforcement, DUI enforcement and much more.
This course helps to enhance communication between the community and the police department, bringing about a better understanding of the actions taken and decisions made by law enforcement personnel.
This Citizen Police Academy is a thirteen week course which will meet on Tuesday nights from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, March 16, 2010 through June 8, 2010. The classes will be held at the Seaside Highlands Community Center, 220 Coe Avenue, in Seaside.
To be eligible you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Have had no misdemeanor arrests within the last 12 months
- Have no felony convictions at any time, from anywhere
Applications may be picked up at the Seaside Police Department 440 Harcourt Ave.

- Traffic & DUI Enforcement
- Use of Force

- Investigations
- Patrol Procedures
- Court Procedures
And much, much, more! This course is also meant to enhance the communication between the community and the police department, hopefully bringing about a better understanding of the actions taken and decisions made by law enforcement personnel. Although this course will teach participants about the inner workings of the police department, it is not intended to teach participants how to become a police officer.
